COMPREHENSIVE INSTITUTE D. MAURO, PESSANO
The wave. Highly recognizable and sustainable building.
The project for the new middle school in Pessano con Bornago goes against the conceptual and volumetric scheme of the traditional school structure to address the needs of a rapidly changing education world. The school building, divided in four areas, is highly flexible to allow for rotational teaching. The circular volume, with overlapping and central courtyard, was built in a rapid and effective way thanks to the use of a metal carpentry structure on the building site.
Earthquake-resistant, NZEB (near-zero energy building) and custom-designed tailored to future users: the design by international studio Settanta7 for the new “D. Mauro” middle school in Pessano con Bornago envisions a school hub school as a reference for the entire citizenry.
